Dear member,Posted at: 02-Jan-2010
How to end this year? With a Bang or a Whimper? With a Bitch or a Moan? And as I sat with my family this Christmas watched the peace and calm that only your own can give you. The light in a child's eyes a comfort of a mother having all her loved ones at home for dinner? A funny blog that made so many laugh and think. And like a snowflake coming out of the soft Grey winter sky an email appeared and with this I am not trying to out anyone but this one was touching and funny all wrapped into one simple package. "Who or what are you? You write such a poignant speech but yet do this for fun or a living? And your reviews depict a Mother Teresa of the Night. Who are you?" funny right, Mother Theresa not I, having fun in my thirties for sure. What a decade this has been and to be able to say decade, so much has changed in a decade. It seems when we get to the end of a decade we want to explain the things that have happened how we have evolved in these Ten Years. Solar Power, Bio-Diesel, A Black President and the chapters of Camelot closing this year with the deaths of Senator Ted Kennedy and his sister Eunice who started the Special Olympics. I have loved Camelot and the Sixties what an amazing decade that was. We lost many in Vietnam, also Civil Rights workers, A President and his Brother, so many people in Hollywood and Music. And I look back and isn't this the new Camelot we are facing more dire situation's but are we. The Dollar has gone up and down in Fifty years not as bad as recent economic developments but we have come so far Technology wise. Not much you cant do anymore on a phone, computer a WII or a Nintendo DS. But has the world really changed I don't believe so. I have tried to think of what has changed Civil Rights are still being fought. Gay's and Hispanics are fighting their own civil rights. Yet it boils down to God for Gay's and walls for our boarders. Can I ask why we don't build a fortress around America nobody comes in, for real? Who truly is an American and who is not? Al Quida is still strong Christmas Day proved that. America is built on the backs of immigrants didn't our forefathers cross an ocean to build the first colonies fight the British. But then again what do I know? But this what I do know that so much has changed in a decade.Things change people change, the World and those in it are changing everyday. Just this year in America we had a ammunition shortage now I am not trying to say people should not have their God Given Right to carry a gun. All I am trying to say is when you do carry that gun realize the power you have. You can destroy not only someone elses life but your own and those who either have to bury or take care of someone else whose be en wounded. This decade has been at times some of the most trying, amazing, scary times of my life. And in it I have learned alot and these are just some quotes that I found this year and the end of a decade that I plan to put forth in 2010. So expect a new person with an even more laid back approach thinking more about how somebody else feels, compassion is my outlook for 2010.
"Let's tell the truth to the people. When people ask,"How are you?" have the nerve sometimes to answer truthfully. You must know however, that people will start avoiding you because they, too have knees that pain them and heads that hurt and they don't want to know about yours. But think of it this way: If people avoid you, you will have more time to meditate and do fine research on a cure for whatever truly afflicts you."Maya Angelou in Letter To My Daughter. This quote came to me this year when I found myself on the cover of one of the local colleges newspapers. Maya Angelou writes from an amazing soul her books and poetry are poignant. Alot of people don't realize the voice of Darth Vader James Earl Jones had a problem with stuttering so terrible that he didn't talk alot as a child but these words he wrote have always helped "One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart that you can't utter.... James Earl Jones 1993. Utter and utter again tell those hard words to those who need to hear them. Don't leave with regret those people may only have been in your life for a short time but remember to live without regret. " The three pillars of deep spirituality are faith, hope and love-yet it is courage that enables all three." Unknown. Live courageously with your head held high you'll be amazed at who you attract. But this is how I am going to end my New Years wish to all for a new decade, I just hope this one is a bit more mellow than the last one. "It is so important to have the respect of others. You can't buy respect, but you can earn it. Be truthful in all that you do - don't ever exaggerate the truth. Stand up for what you believe in. If there is injustice, be part of the solution. Never forget that the road to success is paved with honor and self-respect" Respect. Have an Amazing 2010 thanks to all those who have taken the time to read my little ramblings.
